フーチャとは『潮吹き上げ洞窟』を意味する島の呼び名で、海岸線付近の断崖には隆起サンゴ礁が荒波で浸食されてできた縦穴型の洞窟が口を広げています。
季節風や台風のときには20cm～70cmも潮が吹き上がることもあり、洞窟を覗き込むと吸い込まれそうな深い青色の海が渦を巻く迫力ある光景に出会えます。
