巨大な花崗岩が壮大なＶ字谷の景観をつくりだし、滝の落差は約60 メートル。 屋久島を代表する滝の一つです。
滝の左側にある岩盤は、まるで千人が手を結んだく らいの大きさということで「千尋の滝」と名づけられました。
展望所からは少し遠望になりますが、その景色は迫力があります。展望台までは車椅子で行けます。
