大正溶岩原に作られた展望所で、現在活発に活動中の南岳の火口近くにあるため、マグマが沸き立つ轟音や至近距離からの噴火音を聞く事もできます。
また、展望所から見下ろせる錦江湾を眺める景色も雄大です。晴れた日には遠く開聞岳を見ることもできます。
スロープがあり、中腹まで車椅子で行くことができます。
多目的トイレや授乳室もあります。
